The boy next door

The Boy Next Door - Meg Cabot

Mel Fuller is a gossip columnist and lives in an apartment in New York city. One day, she found her 82-year-old neighbor nearly murdered in the elderly's living room. She walks the neighbor's dog and feed the two cats during her hospitalization. She then meets the said nephew, Max Friedlander. She becomes really close to Max because he made a very good impression to her. She falls in-love with the guy without knowing that the person who she always walks with, with the dog  is not the same guy her friend knew who describes him to be which is a self-centered, egotistical pig. The guy's real name is John that tries to pretend he is Max to pay him the favor that he owes him.

This book is my first Meg Cabot read. I know, i know! I am so late reading a Meg Cabot chic-lit, but spare me the blame of lost time and fun read. I was just always been running away from pink covers and fashion-related story line. Well.. now I gave this a shot. The email-styled story-telling will make some people raise their eyebrows, but i have to give a quick advice that it's all worth it in the end. The hilarious characters were all over the top! Gossip and dialogues were funny that will make you snort and choke. Though the ending was abrupt(i am reading the kindle so i can't cheat and peep the pages), it's still a very sweet and simple one. You'll love the minor characters too and the funny banters. It's a quick, no-sleep-if-you-haven't-finish read.

Very hilarious! Try reading it! >.>

“IN THE SECOND GRADE, WHEN YOU ARE A BOY WHO LIKES A GIRL, YOU GIVE HER YOUR BEST POKEMON CARD. OR YOU PULL HER HAIR. NOT HARD ENOUGH TO MAKE HER CRY, THOUGH. OR YOU CAN ASK  HER TO ROLLER SKATE BACKWARDS WITH YOU, AND THEN HOLD HER HAND SO SHE DOESN'T FALL DOWN.”
