Down London Road (On Dublin street, book 2)

Down London Road - Samantha Young

I don't know about you but i really enjoyed reading this book. The story and the characters can be compared to others but the simplicity of the progression of the story and the dialogues are things that I appreciate the most. I can see an author who is so smart at making good, witty and intelligible clashing of scenes of the characters. There were all flawless, laid-out perfectly, all the right words in the right places. I sensed the characters that are so real, from their flaws to their judgments and decisions. It might pissed you that a character did a wrong act but you will find yourself understanding them.

At first, I went back from my piles wondering why I rated On Dublin street high, but starting its book 2, i remembered so well why. I easily appreciate a clean story-telling especially good dialogues that doesn't need a whole lot of descriptions each and every scenes. You see, I've read some books who have complex dialogues and descriptions in between just to keep the pace tense. But this book differs somehow because the writing was so good, it corresponds easily with the atmosphere and the characters. The wit and the little cliffhanger at the end of each chapter are also some of the charms of this book you can't help but smile. The characters interact and act so naturally. The progression is fluctuating but when the climax meets its peak, i knew it, because all shits had hit the fan making me rooted to my seat.

The couple met some really serious troubles along the way. I can't help but care. Some revelations between them when realized was so sweet, but well hidden until their feelings were laid out. I have one favorite scene where the boy protagonist unfathomed a lot about his behavior. It just all clicked in the right places, I quickly understand him again. I felt that I was played by the author somehow. :P

Favorite quote:

“You know, the world will always try to make you into who it wants you to be. People, time, events, they’ll all try to carve away at you and make you think you don’t know who you are. But it doesn’t matter who they try to make you, or what name they try to give you. If you stay true, you can chip off all their machinations and you’re still you underneath it all.”
